What's UP, Korea?) Seoul Metro, VERY GOOD +_+!!
Hello ST people~
How are you all?
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
The weather in Seoul got little warmer but still bit chill outside when it's windy~
There will be a last cold snap in coming spring then we'll have nice and warm weather by late March! I cannot wait to buy new spring clothing~~~yeah~
Have you ever visited Korea?
If so, what was your main transportation?
Korea has one of the most advanced metro system in the world that is quite easy and convenient to use~
If you had never used while traveling in Korea, why? Did not know how to use it?
Afraid to try new thing?
Then you'll find this posting very informative for your further try!
Seoul Metro; Korean Subway System
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
Seoul metro mainly has 9 lines in different colors that connects the areas from Seoul to another close provinces~ Besides 9 lines, there are more than 10 different lines for people living or working outside of Seoul~
Just like other countries, Koreans live arouns Seoul area but come to inside of Seoul for their work~ (I live and work in Seoul though)

Seoul Metro official website
I use the official website of Seoul Metro quite a lot to inform my patients whenever they are askin me for a help with direction~ If you visit to the website, it is very convenient to get the information you would like to get, so try it!
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
On the left bottom, there is 'Subway Map' which you'll find it very comfortable for direction! Click it!
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
Then you see the total view of every subway lines in Seoul and related areas!
It is not shown here, but you can zoom in and out the size on the website!

Let's try how to use it!
Let's pretend you just arrived at ICN airport and want to come to ST Plastic Surgery directly~ First you either type or find airport line 'Terminal Incheon Intl.' on the left bottom area.
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
Then you come to find line no.3 'Apgujeong' which is the main spot of Gangnam and most famous known place for plastic surgery in Korea!
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
Then here we go!
You got all the summary of travelig direction from the departure to the arrival!
Let's see~
Since where the airport located is outside of Seoul, Incheon, it takes about 83 mins and 19 stations lincluding 2 times of transfer! It is a long trip, but look at the fare!
Only 4,250 won! There are other transportations from the airport to the main areas in Seoul such as limousine bus (about 10,000 won) or taxi (about 75,000-100,000 won). If you have sometime, it is still worth traveling since you can save lots of money!
(Other transportations also takes little less than an hour~)
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
Most of stations in Seoul are placed underground~
When you came down, what you would like to see first before deciding where to wait at is this! The horizontal map in the middle only has the line you are taking and divided into two directions based on the station you are at. The final destination of each direction is written next to the arrow so you can check!
There are transfers signed in different colors so that you can know where to transfer at~
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
If you still find difficult to choose the direction where you are going to?
Just find the next stop then you can wait there~ hehe
Information is written in English, Chinese and Japanese!
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
Then let's wait until the trains comes!
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
It is written in Korean now, but is in English as well~
Mostly the interval of each train is about less than 2 mins or even 1mins during rush hour~
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
When you go inside, this is what you see~
Every information on this screen is shwon also in English as well as it is radiobroadcasted in English, Japanese, and Chinese so listen carefuly~
The door opens at where the light arrow directs to~
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
If you face this machin at first, you could feel afraid but there is nothing to worry about!
You can pay by credit card or cash to buy ticket~
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
If you just go for single direction, take Single Journey Ticket~
If you want to buy T Money card which you can charge money and use on both metro and bus, you can purchase T Money on the very right side and charge the money as much as you want~ Single fare recently 1,250 won now so you need 2,500 won per round trip~
This single card is not usable for bus, but only for metro so you better buy T Money card if you want to travel by different transportations~
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
- The Ticket Vending and Reload machines located in the subway stations operate in Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese. To switch to your language simply touch the appropriate button and the rest of the process will proceed in the selected language.
- Touch the T-money card icon on the right side of the screen.
- Place your T-money card on the electronic card reader marked with the T-money logo.
- Select the amount you wish to add to your card.
- Put the money into the machine.
- Wait until the recharging process is completed, and don’t forget to check the balance of your card before and after recharging. Take the card with you.
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
If everything is successful, you'll get something like this!
(For single trip, the card is yellow~)
T-money cards can also be conveniently bought and recharged in most convenience stores. Simply look for the T-money logo in the window to confirm.
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
But good thing about single fare is that the card is refundable. The fare is 1,250KRW but you can see what you have to pay was 1,750KRW because deposit 500KRW for card was included. Since the card is reusable, put your card back to this machine and get 500won back~~~!
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
Once you have your card, touch it on the gate to enter the station~
We used to insert a paper ticket in the past but now everything is touch system~
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
I personally like the stations outside~
I take line no.3 to come to work in the morning but it is really crowded by so many people.Among 6 stations, there is only one outside station which I felt like I could breathe freely T_T
(ST Plastic Surgery Clinic, Korea)
Not only the fare is good, but the stations are really clean and safely instructed so passengers will find it so comfortable using it!
